Residents honoured for ‘inspiring’ community work
Inspirational residents from Birmingham and the Black Country who have made a difference to their neighbourhoods over the last year are set to be recognised with special awards.
More than 60 residents from across the Accord Group of housing associations, which provide 11,000 affordable homes in areas including Sandwell, Walsall, Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Redditch, have been nominated for a Great Resident Award.
Finalists will attend a ceremony at Aston Villa Football Club next Tuesday (29), where Chair of the Accord Group Board Akshay Parikh will present eight winners with awards.
The awards will include the Committed to Communities gong, which honours a resident who has made a real difference in their community and the Resident Group of the Year award.
Louise Creswick, Resident Engagement Co-ordinator for the Accord Group, said: “We had so many deserving nominations this year that it was a real challenge for us to choose the winners.
“Everyone who has been nominated for an award has worked incredibly hard and their passion for making a difference in their communities and estates is inspiring.”
Akshay Parikh, Chair of the Accord Group Board, said: “This special day is all about giving our thanks to residents, who over the last 12 months have done some remarkable work.
“Their dedication and enthusiasm is paramount in helping us to provide excellent services and homes that meet residents’ needs now and in the future.”
The Accord Group hosts the Great Resident Awards each year and nominations are made by staff and residents.
The aim of the awards is to recognise people who have helped to improve their community or have helped to improve the services provided by the Accord Group.
