Trust hires new Social Innovation Worker
Fry Housing Trust has appointed a new Social Innovation Worker to help its clients to get back into the workplace.
The new role, partly funded by the European Social Fund, focuses on supporting clients back into training, employment, new business and voluntary work. Clients have been helped to access college courses and apprenticeships.
Mike Rogers, who began his new role with the Trust late last year, has inspired clients to become more proactive in seeking employment and has worked with those individuals to provide creative solutions to the barriers they face to gaining employment.
Clients who have struggled for years to get back into employment have secured job interviews and even full-time employment with Mike’s support. The Trust has also seen a considerable increase in clients carrying out voluntary work in their local communities.
Mike helps clients to make the most of their CV, write application forms, cover letters and disclosure letters, as well as supporting them with interview skills and any training they may need.
The Trust has also been able to obtain equipment for all schemes so that clients can go online to search for jobs, bid for move-on properties, create CVs and apply for benefits. Support workers plan to run IT training sessions for clients to learn basic IT skills essential for the future, such as when claiming Universal Credit, which would have to be applied for online.
If you are a Fry Housing Trust client and think Mike Rogers or IT support could help you, please contact your support worker for more information.
