About us

Fry Housing Trust has been established for over 50 years and provides supported accommodation and floating support services to the homeless and vulnerable who have offended or are at risk of offending. The Trust works across the West Midlands, Worcestershire and Warwickshire.

Based in Rowley Regis, the Trust was set up in memory of Margery Fry, a British prison reformer and one of the first female magistrates in the UK. She firmly believed that there must be help and support for people leaving prison to give them a chance of rebuilding their lives, and the Trust continues to follow her beliefs and values today.

Fry Housing Trust provides homes and support to people to maximise their chances of resettlement back into the community and is one of the seven organisations that make up the Accord Group. Success can be measured in many ways, including reduction of offending, sustained tenancies after moving on from Trust accommodation, preventing loss of a tenancy, sustaining employment or training, and achieving individual outcomes. These factors are very particular to each person and take effective planning and support from staff to meet each individual’s needs.

All of Fry Housing Trust’s clients, both within accommodation and floating support, have very different support needs. Initially, the Trust focuses on preventing their homelessness by providing a room in shared accommodation or helping to maintain their own tenancy with floating support. Other support needs vary and can include:

  • Homelessness
  • Substance misuse
  • Alcohol misuse
  • Health issues, including mental or sexual
  • Employment, education and training
  • Finding secure move-on accommodation
  • Accessing local social activities or services
  • Developing confidence and self esteem
  • Being a part of the community that they live in.

The Trust has policies to ensure that each client receives the same opportunities, support and chances to improve their lives. Each client is assigned a ‘keyworker’, who helps them to identify what support they need and empower them to get the skills they need to achieve their goals.
